Coship 3188C  Blind Search

Scroll down for screen shots and how to program.

Find the channels no one else can.  This "Blind Search" receiver will find all the channels for you. Sewarches all frequencies and when it finds a signal it tries all symbol rates and it is fast, I know I have tried other receivers that claim to search but they all fall far short of the Coship 3188    c
CDVB3188C is fully compliant with DVB-S standards, with powerful single chip processor MB87L2250. Besides all the advantages of CDVB3188A, the most outstanding character is that it provides an unique blind search function—that is, there is no need of transponder’s frequency and symbol rate to search satellite which makes the operation of receiver much easier and more convenient.

Digital receiver with "Blind Search" - will find all the channels on any satellite

CDVB3188C

Features

NOTE!  This receiver is a great tool for finding  channels but its features are somewhat limited; It is the ultimate search receiver but its menus are not nearly as good as the 5300,  it has NO channel 3 or 4 output, it uses audio video cables and it will not convert standards, i.e.  pal to ntsc. It will not support a drive that moves your Ku dish. You may want to look at the 5300 or the BEC if you only want one receiver. Otherwise,,, it Rocks!

* Fully DVB-S/MPEG-2 Compliant
* C/Ku full automatic blind search without the parameters of frequency and symbol rate

Programming and operating the 3188C

  All 3188C receivers come preprogrammed for many of the channels on Telstar 5, but you will want to blind search T5 for more channels so let me run through the procedure;

1  press "menu"  and select "antenna setting" and "ok"

2 Use the right button to select the satellite you want to scan.  You can use 1 for generic C Band for 2 for Generic Ku.  Selecting 3 and up will give you an opportunity to choose a preprogrammed  name or customize your own satellite name.  Read yore manual.  You can not use 1 name to cover a C and Ku bird, use 2 entries.

Now Highlight "Blind Search" and press "OK".  The following menu opens up.  Note that when Usersat C is selected that the LNB frequency is always 05150 and we search from 3700 to 4200 for domestic birds.  Some International birds use lower frequencies.

Now lets select Usersat Ku.  Anytime you want to scan a Ku satellite you must be sure the following parameters are used.

Important!!!  Note the difference between the C and Ku band parameters!!

On the C -Band Above you may want to start at 3700 so the process will run faster.  3400 - 3700 is not used in the USA

Ku is  11700 to 12200 with an LNB frequency of 10750..

DBS is 11250 Lnb freq  and start and end should be 12200 and 12500

Now we have a choice to make for Telstar 5 , Ku.  T5 is preprogrammed as a C Band Bird so we can use a generic UserSat Ku or we can take the T5 name and reprogram it for our needs. Remember this is not a fancy $1000 receiver, it takes some programming and definitely outperforms other receivers.

For Our example let us use UserSat Ku for Telstar 5 Ku.  Later the user can go consult the manual and customize the satellite names.  The list preprogrammed into the receiver is a general international list and does not cover many US domestic birds.  From the "install antenna" menu above press ok then highlight and select ok and the menu at the right opens up.  Extend the end frequency out to 12200 for US domestic satellites, change to polar range to h and v and say yes to scan under --.  Your parameters should look like the following;

After you press OK your receiver will begin to "Scan" and you will see a screen that looks like the picture on the right.  Exit out of all of the menus and you are ready to watch TV

Enjoy--
