Traxis DBS5500 CI      This model allows the user to insert a cam and use a smart card. Each type of smart card requires a special cam  (not for use with Dish Network or DirecTV)

Except for the slots behind the door for two cams, the 4500 and 5500CI look the same.

Programming the Traxis 4500 / 5500

Note; the only difference between the programming of the the 4500 and the 5500 CI is that the5500 CI has an entry at the bottom of the "System Setting" menu labeled "Common Interface" that identifies they type of  CAM  encryption system that is installed, if any.

Press Menu and open the main menu;  (Scroll all the way down for Easy Tuning)

We will show you how to completely set up a Traxis receiver.   Highlight "installation", press OK and open up the "installation" menu.
We will now set up the receiver to match your system.  Highlight "Antenna Setting"  and press OK.  This will open up the "Antenna Setting" menu
Line 1 is the name of the satellite you are setting up. Press right arrow to choose bird. We have chosen Intelsat Americas 5 formerly Telstar 5.We have chosen the Ku band.  Line 2 is LNB frequency, 10750 = standard Ku.  C Band is 5150 and some Ku lnbs are Universal which allows for recepting of frequencies below 11700 to 12200. An example would be Unision on Naheul where we downlink Unsion at 11600 got some churches. Call for information on this one.  Lin e 3-5 are switches which allow for using more then one dish or lnb, say a C-Band and a Ku Band on a 10' dish.   We sell mainly DiSEqC switches.  When installing a DiSEqC switch we suggest that the receiver be unplugged to avoid a power surge to the switch. Right arrow to enable then choose say lnb1 or Ku and lnb 2 C.  You can customize each satellite for its unique switch.  The next line is for a motor.  I suggest that you visit several other places on this board such as "magic arc" and "Satwork" setup for directions on installing a motor. FTA only, always choose NO.

Note above the Quality line is Green.   This means that the transponder above has been found and is locked onto the bird.  As long as that transponder remains active, all you must do is to slowly move the dish until the quality bar turns green and is stable. Numbers are to be maximized and have no real meaning.  Some receivers work well at 20%, others 98%.  Figures are arbitrary.  If it goes up and down or is not green the you have not found your bird.  Move the dish SLOWLY giving the receiver time to tune.   You can visit Lyngsat.com and to confirm active transponders on each bird. Highlight "Start Search" press ok and wait for the receiver to search each transponder preprogrammed into the receiver.  After scanning, exit out of all menus allowing time to save.

Easy Tuning,  If your dish is already on the satellite and all you need to do is to program the bird, Easy tuning if for you.

You can enter "Easy Tuning", highlight and satellite name by pressing arrow down several times, press the right arrow opening up the satellite list.   Highlight the satellite you want, press ok the use  "Auto Tuning" and this will scan the satellite based on the transponders preloaded into the satellite memory.  Choose No on FTA only.  Autotune will find new channels.

From the "Installation Menu"  you may choose "Manual Search" which allows you to search satellites by specific  transponder.  This is where you get into adding mauel PIDs for some of those "hidden signals".  Highlight "Advanced" for the PIDs menu.

From the Installation main menu you can choose  "Edit Satellite" which allows the user to Add, Delete, Rename, or Move a the satellite designation.

The last selection is "Factory Default". This will erase any of the programming that you have done,,,, DON'T choose it or BOOM
