INSTALLATION NOTES

Terms,  STB = Set Top Box, your receiver

Lnbf is the piece of electronics that points at the dish and must be set for proper skew, that is so the STB will see Horizontal and Vertical Signals.  See  http://www.lyngsat.com American frequencies for info

                                    Antenna Setting Menu;

This applies to STBs getting more the One satellite, either by switches or motorized dish.  The Trimax will store 32 separate satellites in memory.  Go to > Installation, > Antenna Setting  >OK.  Line 1 indicates a satellite (Dish).  Press the Right key and you will see the first of the 32 satellites highlighted.  Review the satellites and if you see any missing that you will need scroll down the list and highlight a satellite that you do NOT need and press OK.  We chose 14 Echo? The name of the satellite that you have selected to replace will be indicated on line 2 (satellite). Left arrow to close list.  Scroll to line 2 and highlight the satellite that you wish to replace and press the right arrow. From the list highlight the satellite to add.  We chose SBS-6, highlight,   press ok.  Satellite 14 is now SBS-6 home of the Ohio News Network. Now go to line 5, press the right arrow and select the LN|B type for the lnb you have on the dish.  10750 for standard Ku, 9750/10600 for Universal Ku and 5150 for C-Band.

                                      How to Find the Bird;

From the Antenna Setting Menu  highlight Dish, right click, scroll and highlight the bird you want.  Intelsat Americas 5 Ku is the most popular bird also known as Telstar 5  Ku.  Check and make sure that line 5 has the right lo frequency for the lnbf on your dish. It should be printed on the lnbf.  Usually it is 10750 for Ku or 9750 / 10600 for the multi freq. Universal Ku  lnbf.  Using Lyngsat.com or another list scroll to line 3  “Transponder”  press the right arrow and make sure that all of the transponders you need are in there.  Two that are typically missing on Intelsat Americas 5 are  11966 H 22000  and  11789 V 22000.  These are good transponders to find the bird with.  To add them Highlight Transponder, right arrow, and scroll down to New TP, press ok.  For frequency enter 11966, Polarity =  Horizontal, and Symbol Rate 25000.  Press ok and  Line 4 Transponder should reflect 11966H22000.  Press the left arrow to close the list of frequencies on the right.  Now move the dish until Signal Quality is maximized. Signal Strength does no have much meaning.  It is signal strength that should be green and steady.  30 or above.

                                          Switches and Motor

22K and DiSEqC refers to switches that can be added to allow your receiver to use more then one Antenna. Hint, unplug the STB before adding switches. It help to keep from frying the switches and helps the receiver identify the switch, your STB is a computer.

                                           Motorized Dish

If you use a motor such as the SG 2100 you can control it with your Trimax.  The Trimax does a better  job then most receivers but is still tricky.  See your motor instructions for installing and tracking the motor and dish.

From  Installation  choose 4  Motor Setup and hit Reset Position which should take the motor to top dead center.  Go to Setup west limit, choose move and let go, do not hold button and the dish will move to the west, the press ok to store the position.  Then do East and exit out.

Now go back to Installation, Antenna setting.  Go to 8 and  fight click and choose motor setting on.  If line 2 does not show the satellite you wish to find go to line 1 and right click and choose the bird.  Left click  and be sure that LNB type is right.  Be sure you have an active transponder, see Lyngsat.    Highlight “Motor Setting” and press ok. This opens up a new menu.  Leave line 1 at continuous and line 2 at More Dish.   Line 3 saves your setting.  I am looking for AMC4.  I have added a few transponders.  Yau can not add the same transponder twice.  I have chosen 11983H5700, highlight, OK exit, which is 3ABN  which is always on the air.  Back to Motor Setting, highlight and OK which opens up the menu with bad spelling.  Leave it on Continuous and highlight line 2. Press but do not hold the left or right arrow and press but do not hold ok.  The dish will move until the satellite is found.  Go to line 1 and select step size  1 and peak the dish from line 2,. Be patient this can be tricky to get quality maxed.  Line 3 press OK to save, the exit once.  You should see a good strong quality signal.  Press the Yellow button to scan the entire bird.  Highlight and press ok to place a check mark by AMC4 or the satellite you are going to scan.  Uncheck all other satellite.  Press the right arrow, highlight All Channel and wait.  You should see a list of channels found.
